I decided to start studying Japanese more seriously in January 2009 and signed up for a kumon correspondence course. I soon realised that I needed additional lessons as I wasn't speaking in Japanese to anyone! Working in an English speaking environment everyday makes it hard to learn the Language.
By learning another language it really gave me an insight into how children learn a language and how difficult it is! So many times I have made connections between how I was learning and how my students learn. It was beneficial for everone!
Then, last October a colleague suggested I try to take the N5 JLPT in December of 2010. I thought I would give it a go and treat it like a mock exam. It was an interesting experience and the exam took place on a Sunday at Tokyo University. I finally got the results yesterday and I passed! Thanks to everyone for their support. Now, I need to start working on the N4!
